Madras High Court Judge Summons Ramadoss and Anbumani for Private Talks Amid PMK General Committee Ban Case

Chennai, August 8, 2025 - In a significant development, Madras High Court Judge Anand Venkatesh has invited Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss and his son Anbumani Ramadoss for a private meeting in his chambers to address the ongoing dispute over the ban on a general body meeting called by Anbumani. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 PM today, following a petition filed by Ramadoss' appointed state general secretary, Murali Shankar, seeking to prohibit the meeting.

The controversy stems from Anbumani's decision to convene a PMK General Committee meeting tomorrow in Mamallapuram. Murali Shankar's petition, presented before Justice Anand Venkatesh, argues that Anbumani lacks the authority to call such a meeting, asserting that only party founder Ramadoss holds that power. This legal challenge has intensified the internal rift within the party.

During the court hearing, Justice Venkatesh proposed a direct intervention, asking the counsels representing both sides if he could invite Ramadoss and Anbumani for a private discussion to mediate the issue. Anbumani’s counsel agreed to the proposal, while Ramadoss' side remained non-committal. The judge emphasized that the meeting would exclude party members, followers, or even lawyers, ensuring a confidential setting to facilitate dialogue.

This move by the court comes as tensions escalate within PMK, with the leadership dispute taking center stage. The outcome of today’s private session could have significant implications for the party’s internal dynamics and the scheduled general body meeting.
