Oasis Triumph at Croke Park: A Night of History, Emotion and Homecoming

The 16th stop of the Oasis Live 25 comeback tour will be remembered as one of the loudest, most euphoric nights in Irish live music history. For the first time in 16 years, the Gallagher brothers stood united on an Irish stage, delivering a spectacular homecoming before a sold-out crowd of 80,000 at Dublin’s Croke Park.

It marked a full-circle moment for Noel Gallagher. The last time he performed at the venue, back in July 2017, it was as a solo artist supporting U2’s Joshua Tree anniversary tour — before a half-empty stadium. On this night, however, Noel and Liam were centre stage, walking hand in hand into a rapturous atmosphere that was electric long before the first chord rang out. By the time Richard Ashcroft completed his support set at 7 p.m., Croke Park was heaving, charged with anticipation.

The setlist was a celebration of anthems — from Live Forever to Don’t Look Back in Anger — each sung in unison by the massive Dublin crowd. Liam, clad in his signature parka, and Noel, in a crisp white shirt and jeans, looked every bit the icons of a generation as they launched into their catalogue of classics.

There were deeply personal moments too. The brothers dedicated Roll With It to the people of Charlestown in Mayo, their mother Peggy’s hometown, before Liam paid special tribute to Peggy herself, who was in the audience, with a heartfelt rendition of Stand By Me. It was a dedication that drew some of the night’s loudest cheers, underscoring the family pride woven into the reunion.

The show built toward a thunderous finale: Slide Away and Whatever had the crowd in full voice, while Live Forever became a stadium-wide choir under the Dublin night sky. Rock ’n’ Roll Star closed the main set, before the encore reignited the stadium with D’You Know What I Mean and a triumphant reprise of Stand By Me.

Adding to the sense of occasion, footballer Peter Crouch was spotted in the crowd, having rushed from Villa Park to witness the historic reunion. Fans, celebrities, and longtime supporters alike were swept up in what can only be described as a landmark moment in music.

For many, Oasis’s Croke Park concert was not just a gig, but a cultural milestone: a return to form, a family tribute, and a reminder of why the Gallagher brothers’ songs remain timeless. As one fan put it, “Oasis was everything Irish fans could have wished for — with something extra sprinkled on top.”
