Varanasi, August 2, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a slew of developmental initiatives in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi on Saturday. The projects, valued at approximately ₹2,200 crore, span key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, urban development, and cultural heritage.
The comprehensive rollout is aimed at catalyzing Varanasi’s urban transformation while preserving its rich historical and spiritual identity. PM Modi Arrives in Kashi
The Prime Minister arrived in Varanasi shortly before 11:00 AM and proceeded to participate in a series of public functions, unveiling infrastructure that reflects both modern urban planning and cultural revitalization.
Speaking at the event, PM Modi emphasized the importance of integrated development that aligns Varanasi’s spiritual legacy with the aspirations of a growing city. “These projects will shape the future of Kashi while honoring its timeless traditions,” he said.

A day prior to the visit, Prime Minister Modi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share a message in Hindi, expressing his connection to the people of Kashi:
"August 2nd is a very special day for my family members in Kashi. Around 11 AM tomorrow, I will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several projects related to education, health, sports, tourism, and connectivity. On this occasion, I will also have the honour of releasing the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme."
PM-Kisan Installment Released
In a significant welfare measure during his visit, PM Modi also released the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, reaffirming the government’s ongoing commitment to farmer welfare and rural livelihoods.
