Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, Stalin Join Bihar Rally; BJP Calls Them ‘Out-of-Sync Dynasts’

Muzaffarpur, Bihar: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) Tejashwi Yadav, and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin came together in Bihar on Wednesday as part of the ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra, a campaign protesting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The show of opposition unity, however, drew sharp barbs from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which derided the leaders as “hopeless out-of-sync dynasts.”

Joining the rally, DMK MP Kanimozhi shared a photograph of Gandhi, Yadav, and Stalin, describing them as the “future of India.” In another post, she wrote: “Together we rise, together we resist. The INDIA alliance joins hands in Bihar to voice out against BJP’s tyranny and to safeguard democracy.” She added that the march aimed to defend the Constitution and uphold the people’s mandate.

Stalin, who reached Muzaffarpur to extend solidarity, addressed the crowd in Tamil, declaring that the alliance was united to “save democracy.” He accused the Election Commission of failing in its duty, alleging that nearly 65 lakh names had been deleted from voter rolls in Bihar, calling the move “more dangerous than terrorism.” He shared the stage with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and CPI(ML) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya.

Rahul Gandhi also launched a frontal attack on the BJP, alleging that it “wins elections by stealing votes.” He claimed that the so-called “Gujarat model” was rooted in “vote theft” and accused the Election Commission of enabling electoral malpractice. “We will continue to provide evidence to show how votes in both assembly and Lok Sabha polls were stolen,” Gandhi said.

BJP’s Counterattack

The BJP hit back strongly at the opposition rally. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary accused RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav of sheltering leaders who had insulted Biharis in the past. BJP spokesperson C.R. Kesavan reminded voters of controversial remarks made by DMK leaders against people from Bihar, questioning whether such comments could now be overlooked.

Tamil Nadu BJP chief K. Annamalai also joined the attack, mocking Kanimozhi’s post with a quip on X: “Could you show me a picture of three hopeless out-of-sync dynasts? ChatGPT: Here we go!”

In a statement, the BJP dismissed Stalin’s presence in Bihar as a “political charade,” accusing him of attempting to whitewash the DMK’s past “disdain” toward Biharis. “From calling them less intelligent to blaming them for job losses, DMK’s history is stained with disrespect. Now, as he stands beside Rahul Gandhi, will the people of Bihar forget these insults?” the party said.

The Yatra

Rahul Gandhi launched the 1,300-km Voter Adhikar Yatra on August 17 from Sasaram, Bihar. The march will conclude with a rally in Patna on September 1. The INDIA bloc has consistently opposed the SIR exercise, arguing that it would disenfranchise millions of poor and marginalized voters in the state.
