At least four people were killed and several others injured across multiple Russian regions following a wave of Ukrainian drone strikes, according to regional authorities.
On Saturday, acting Governor of the Rostov Region, Yury Slyusar, confirmed that Russian air defenses had repelled what he described as a "massive air attack," with multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) intercepted across several districts. One security guard was killed after a drone strike ignited a fire at an industrial facility in Uglerodovskoye. The blaze was later contained.
In central Russia’s Penza Region, Governor Oleg Melnichenko reported that a drone targeted a local enterprise, killing one woman and injuring two others. Both injured victims are expected to recover.
Further west, Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said an elderly man was killed after drone debris struck his summer home in the Kuybyshevsky district, causing a fire. The strikes prompted temporary restrictions on mobile internet services in the affected areas.
Airport operations in the Penza, Saratov, and Tambov regions were briefly suspended as a precautionary measure amid ongoing aerial threats.
Later in the day, Maksim Pukhov, head of the city of Energodar in the Zaporozhye Region, reported that a Ukrainian drone targeted an industrial zone, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to a man in a civilian vehicle. He noted that elevated UAV activity had hampered emergency response efforts in the area.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense stated that air defense units intercepted a total of 112 Ukrainian drones overnight across Russian territory, with the majority neutralized over the Rostov and Krasnodar regions.
Ukraine has intensified long-range drone operations in recent months, frequently targeting industrial infrastructure and residential zones deep inside Russian territory. In response, Moscow has continued its campaign of precision strikes on Ukrainian military assets, while maintaining that its operations do not target civilians.
