A four-year-old girl created history at the 71st National Film Awards by winning her first award, becoming the youngest recipient in the ceremony’s history.
The awards ceremony took place yesterday, September 23, at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. Representing Tamil Nadu, director Ramkumar Balakrishnan’s film Parking won the Best Feature Film award, while actor M.S. Bhaskar received the Best Supporting Actor award. Among these, the spotlight was firmly on four-year-old Trish Dosar, who won the Best Child Artist Award. Clad in a charming sari, Trish walked onto the stage to receive the award from President Droupadi Murmu, amidst loud applause from the audience. Her achievement drew delighted attention from celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji, who watched in amazement.
Trish Dosar made her debut as a two-year-old in the 2023 Marathi film Naal-2, directed by Sudhakar Reddy and starring acclaimed director Nagraj Manjule. The film, which focused on the story of Chaitanya reuniting with his mother and siblings after a long time, received mixed reviews and was a commercial disappointment at the box office. Despite this, Trish’s performance as Simi won her critical acclaim and now the National Award for Best Child Artist.
