Srinagar: Workers engaged in routine cleaning of Dal Lake on Saturday discovered remnants of a shell believed to have exploded during Operation Sindoor in May, officials said.
Staff from the Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) recovered the debris and handed it over to the nearest police station for examination and necessary action.
The discovery comes months after May 10, when a missile-like object crashed into the lake—one of Srinagar’s most prominent tourist destinations—following a series of loud explosions across the city. Eyewitnesses reported smoke rising from the lake’s surface before security forces retrieved the damaged object.
On the same day, another suspicious device was recovered in Lasjan, on Srinagar’s outskirts, amid multiple blasts reported across the city.
