New Delhi: The official X account of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was hacked on Sunday, with attackers posting images of the national flags of Pakistan and Turkey, officials confirmed.
The breach occurred on a day when India and Pakistan were scheduled to face each other in their second Asia Cup match. Hackers reportedly live-streamed visuals displaying the two flags before the account was secured.
“We immediately alerted the cyber crime police. Our technical team in charge of the Deputy CM’s X handle later retrieved the account,” an official said.
Restoring the account took approximately 30 to 45 minutes, the official added.
Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the source of the cyberattack or whether an investigation has identified those responsible.
