Nashik: The Bhadrakali police have arrested three suspects in connection with the vandalism of five vehicles—including three cars and two autorickshaws—in the Nanawali area during the early hours of Tuesday.
According to police, a group of six individuals was involved in damaging vehicles parked along the roadside. While three have been taken into custody, efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
The arrested men were produced before a local court on Wednesday and have been remanded in police custody until September 12. Senior officials noted that all six accused are residents of the same locality and allegedly intended to spread fear among neighbourhood residents.
The incident took place around 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday when the suspects began smashing the glass of parked vehicles. Alarmed residents rushed out of their homes on hearing the commotion, at which point the accused fled the scene after verbally abusing them.
Police confirmed that one of the complainants managed to identify one of the culprits, which led to the swift arrest of three suspects. The main accused, still at large, is said to be a habitual offender with eight criminal cases registered against him, including charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, attempted murder, and robbery.
