President Donald Trump on Tuesday dismissed speculation about his death as “fake news,” stressing that he had held several press conferences in recent days and remained active in public life. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said he had not personally seen the reports but was made aware of them.
“I didn’t hear that one — that’s pretty serious. Well, it’s fake news,” Trump remarked. “Last week, I did numerous news conferences, all successful. Then I didn’t do any for two days, and suddenly people said there must be something wrong with him.”
Trump contrasted the scrutiny over his brief absence with the treatment of former President Joe Biden. “Biden wouldn’t do pressers for months. You wouldn’t see him. And nobody ever said there was anything wrong with him. And we know he wasn’t in the greatest of shape,” the 79-year-old added.
Rumors Gain Traction Amid Health Speculation
The rumors of Trump’s death gained traction in recent weeks after gaps appeared in his presidential schedule and he did not meet the press as frequently. Speculation was further fueled by the White House’s confirmation that Trump had been diagnosed with CVI (chronic venous insufficiency), along with widely circulated photographs showing bruises on his hands and swelling around his ankle.
Despite the speculation, the White House has repeatedly emphasized that the President remains in “excellent condition.” Trump also pointed out that he had been active on Truth Social throughout the period in question, and was even spotted at his Virginia golf club spending time with his grandchildren.
