Kerala: The funeral services of Kozhikode, will be held in Ireland. As a well-known figure both at home and abroad, Ranju's (Renju Rose Kurian 40) death came as a shock to his family and friends.
His wife is Janet, a native of Kozhikode who works as a nurse in Ireland, and his children are Chris and Felix.
A public viewing will be held for Ranju (eircode P72WE20) at Gabriel and O'Donovan's Funeral Home in Bandon from 10.30am on Wednesday.
The body will then be cremated with private ceremonies following Mass in Bandon at 11.30am. The church services will be broadcast live on the website www.bandonparish.ie/live at 12 noon.
Kozhikode native in Kerala state, Mr Ranju, who lives with his family in County Cork, Ireland, went missing following family problems and was later found suicided in Killarney National Park, a famous tourist destination in Ireland.
Reports from his hometown of Kozhikode indicate that the young man, who was troubled by family problems in Ireland, had not been seen for a few days.
A member of a business family, from Kozhikode, Kerala, Renju had been active in various organizations, participating with the Syro Malabar Youth KCYM, before coming to Ireland. The love that emerged from there culminated in marriage.
There were attempts from the country to take Ranju's body back home. However, since the separation from his wife has not yet taken place in Ireland, Ranju's family has agreed to a settlement as per the law in Ireland. Without the same "ties and bonds" he will now love the cold soil of Ireland.
