PM Modi Extends Diwali Greetings, Links Operation Sindoor to Spirit of Lord Ram

New Delhi, October 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended warm Diwali greetings to the people of India, invoking the spirit of Lord Ram and the nation’s collective triumphs — most notably India’s success in Operation Sindoor, a mission carried out in response to the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year.

In a heartfelt letter to citizens, the Prime Minister described Deepavali as a festival of energy and optimism, symbolising the victory of righteousness over injustice. He reflected on how the ideals of Lord Ram continue to inspire the nation in its pursuit of justice and peace.

“I extend my heartfelt greetings to all of you on the auspicious occasion of Deepavali, a festival filled with energy and enthusiasm. This is the second Deepavali after the grand construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Lord Shri Ram teaches us to uphold righteousness and also gives us the courage to fight injustice. We have seen a living example of this a few months ago during Operation Sindoor,” the Prime Minister wrote.

Highlighting India’s counter-terror operation held from May 7 to 10, PM Modi said the mission not only upheld righteousness but also avenged the injustice inflicted upon the nation.

He further noted that this year’s Diwali carries special significance, as for the first time, lamps will be lit in several districts across the country — including remote regions — where Naxalism and Maoist extremism have been completely eradicated.

“In recent times, we have seen many individuals abandoning the path of violence and joining the mainstream of development, expressing faith in the Constitution of our country. This is a major achievement for the nation,” he emphasized.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the government’s ongoing reforms, noting that the recent reduction in GST rates, introduced on the first day of Navratri, has resulted in substantial savings for citizens under the “GST Bachat Utsav” initiative.

Amid global uncertainty, Modi reaffirmed that Bharat continues to be a beacon of both stability and compassion, confidently progressing toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy.

“In this journey of a Viksit (Developed) and Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), our foremost duty as citizens is to contribute responsibly to the nation’s growth. Let us embrace Swadeshi products, respect all languages, maintain cleanliness, prioritize our health, and adopt Yoga as a way of life,” he urged.

PM Modi drew upon the symbolism of Diwali lamps to convey a message of unity and collective progress.

“Deepavali teaches us that when one lamp lights another, its light does not diminish — it only grows stronger. With this spirit, let us light lamps of harmony, cooperation, and positivity in our society,” he said.

Concluding his message, the Prime Minister extended his warmest wishes for a joyous and prosperous Deepavali to all citizens.

“Once again, wishing you all a very Happy Deepavali,” he wrote, signing off with his name — Narendra Modi.
