Co Meath, October 20: Heartfelt tributes have poured in following the death of Emma Curtis, a young girl from Drakestown in Castletown Kilpatrick, whose warmth, courage, and spirit deeply touched everyone who met her.
Emma passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness “carried with great strength,” according to a death notice shared on RIP.ie.
“Emma will be forever loved and greatly missed by her heartbroken parents Aidan and Leesa, adored sister Chloe, grandparents Frank & Eileen and Liam & Imelda, aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends,” the notice read.
A Brave Heart and an Honorary Garda
Throughout her illness, Emma displayed extraordinary bravery and resilience that inspired those around her. She was honoured by the Little Blue Heroes Foundation, a volunteer-run charity of Garda members and staff that supports families of children undergoing long-term medical treatment, by being made an Honorary Garda — a recognition reserved for young heroes who embody courage and hope.

One teacher wrote, “My deepest sympathies to Aidan, Leesa, and Chloe on the passing of your beautiful Emma. I taught Emma in OCC and remember her speaking with such love and warmth about her family. She will be remembered fondly and always with a smile. I’ve no doubt Emma is looking down on you all and will give you the strength to carry on.”
