Prayagraj, October 20: In a shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, a woman allegedly severed her brother-in-law’s genitals after he refused to marry her sister. The brutal act, which occurred on October 16, has sent shockwaves through the region.
According to police reports, the accused, identified as Manju, attacked her brother-in-law Umesh while he was asleep. Umesh and Manju’s sister had reportedly been in a relationship for a long time. However, when the family opposed their marriage, Umesh decided to marry another woman. The decision deeply distressed Manju’s sister, who fell into depression. Enraged by her sister’s condition, Manju allegedly took revenge by assaulting Umesh in his sleep.
Hearing his screams, Umesh’s brother rushed to his room and found him lying in a pool of blood. The family immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors performed an emergency surgery lasting nearly an hour and a half. Medical officials said Umesh’s condition is now stable, though full recovery could take seven to eight months.
Initially, the family had filed a complaint against an unidentified attacker. However, during investigation, police found evidence pointing to Manju, who was later arrested. Authorities confirmed that she fled the scene after the attack but was tracked down soon after.
Police continue to investigate the incident, which they say was motivated by anger and emotional turmoil following Umesh’s refusal to marry Manju’s sister.
