Bengaluru: A woman in Karnataka has lodged a police complaint against her husband, Syed Inamul Haq, and his family, alleging sexual harassment, blackmail, and sustained mental and physical abuse within her marriage.
According to the complaint, reported by NDTV and Asianet News Malayalam, the woman married Haq in December 2024, just two months after their engagement. At the time of the wedding, the bride’s family reportedly gave 340 grams of gold ornaments and a Yamaha motorcycle. Initially, the marriage appeared stable, but soon after, troubling revelations emerged.
The woman alleged that Haq disclosed he was already married, told her she was his “second wife,” and further boasted of having sexual relationships with 19 other women. She further claimed that Haq pressured her to engage in sexual activity with his overseas contacts and threatened to release videos of her online if she refused.
The complaint also stated that Haq had secretly installed a hidden camera in their bedroom to record private moments, which he allegedly shared with associates abroad.
Allegations of Physical and Mental Abuse
The woman accused Haq of repeated physical and mental harassment, including public humiliation and assaults at hotels and even at her parents’ home. She alleged that Haq pressured her to sell her gold jewelry to finance a flat and assaulted her when she refused.
The complaint further implicated Haq’s in-laws. During a family gathering in February, his sister allegedly insulted the complainant, while his brother-in-law was accused of sexually inappropriate behavior.
Following the complaint, police have registered a case against Haq and several of his family members. Authorities confirmed that Syed Inamul Haq, the prime accused, is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend him
