Jaipur: A devastating accident late Tuesday night on the Jaipur–Ajmer Highway triggered a series of powerful explosions after a truck carrying LPG cylinders caught fire following a collision with a chemical-laden tanker. The incident, which occurred near Sawarda Puliya in Mauzamabad tehsil, resulted in the death of one person and left several others injured.
Eyewitness footage captured massive fireballs and explosions lighting up the night sky as gas cylinders continued to detonate, sending shockwaves across the area. Traffic movement on the busy highway was immediately suspended as emergency services rushed to contain the blaze.
According to officials, at least two to three individuals, including the tanker driver, sustained injuries. IG Rahul Prakash said the collision occurred when trucks and trailers were parked near a roadside dhaba and the chemical-laden tanker rammed into one of the stationary trucks. The impact caused the LPG cylinders to explode, engulfing both vehicles in flames.
Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa, who was en route to the accident site, told ANI that the situation had been brought under control. “The fire has been contained. According to preliminary reports, there have been no additional casualties. Ambulances and rescue teams are on-site,” he said.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed grief over the tragedy, calling it “extremely unfortunate,” and confirmed that fire brigade and disaster management teams were conducting extensive rescue and relief operations. “I have directed officials to ensure that all injured individuals receive prompt and proper medical treatment,” he said in a post on X.
Rescue operations continued through the night as police, administrative officials, and fire department teams worked in coordination to clear the debris and secure the area.
