New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday to convey his best wishes on the latter’s 73rd birthday.
According to officials, PM Modi “warmly congratulated President Putin and conveyed best wishes for good health and success in all his endeavours.”
During the conversation, the two leaders reviewed the progress of the India-Russia bilateral agenda and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
Prime Minister Modi also expressed his anticipation of welcoming President Putin to India for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, scheduled for later this year. Putin is expected to visit in the first week of December, having previously confirmed his travel plans.
The exchange follows recent mutual acknowledgments of leadership. Last week, President Putin praised Prime Minister Modi as a “reasonable and wise leader who defends India’s national interests,” noting his confidence that Modi “would not take steps that would humiliate Indians.”
Earlier, on 17 September, President Putin had also extended birthday greetings to PM Modi on his 75th birthday. In a message published on the Kremlin website, he wrote: “Dear Mr. Prime Minister, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of your 75th birthday. You are making a great personal contribution to strengthening the special privileged strategic partnership between our countries, and to developing mutually beneficial Russian-Indian cooperation across various areas.”
The exchange underscores the continued warmth and depth of the India-Russia relationship, highlighting both leaders’ focus on strategic collaboration and mutual interests.
