St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Church, Mervue, Celebrates Parish Day 2025 with Joy and Fellowship

Mervue, Sept. 21, 2025 — The St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, Mervue, celebrated Parish Day 2025 with great joy and spiritual fervour on Sunday, 21 September 2025, uniting the entire parish community in thanksgiving, faith, and fellowship.


The day’s celebration began with a solemn Holy Mass at 2:30 p.m., celebrated by Rev. Fr. Jose Bharanikulangara. Following the Mass, a public meeting was held, presided over by Rev. Fr. Antony (Babu Achan).

The programme commenced with a Prayer Song by the Junior Choir Team, setting a reverent tone for the evening. Trustee Icy Albin extended a warm welcome to the gathering, after which Secretary Mathew Joseph presented the Annual Report, highlighting the parish’s activities and achievements over the past year.


In his Inaugural Address, Rev. Fr. Jose Bharanikulangara reflected on the importance of unity and gratitude within the parish community. The Lighting of the Lamp ceremony followed, symbolising the light of faith, hope, and togetherness.

The event also included felicitations to recognise and honour individuals who have contributed significantly to the parish’s spiritual and social life. Among those honoured were Rev. Fr. Jose Bharanikulangara, Rev. Fr. Jijo Ashariparambil, Catechism Headmaster Charles Wilson, and representatives from Pithruvedi, Mathruvedi, and SMYM.


Special recognition was given to couples celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, as well as to Sunday School teachers for their dedicated service in guiding the younger generation in faith formation.

The celebration also featured the Bible Quiz Competition Prize Distribution, where St. Sebastian Unit secured first place, followed by St. Mary’s Unit in second place. Certificates were awarded to 12th Class Catechism Students, and prizes were distributed to top performers in the Catechism Academic Awards.

Trustee Anil Jacob delivered the Vote of Thanks, extending heartfelt gratitude to the clergy, organisers, volunteers, and parishioners whose efforts made the day a memorable success.


The evening concluded with colourful cultural performances by various prayer units and church organisations, reflecting the vibrancy, unity, and diverse talents of the St. Thomas parish community.

The Parish Day 2025 celebration was a profound expression of faith in action, bringing together hearts and hands in a shared spirit of gratitude, fellowship, and love for the Church.
