Trump Confirms Gaza Hostage Release Set for Monday; Families Express Gratitude

Washington, D.C., October 9, 2025 — U.S. President Donald Trump has assured the families of Israeli hostages held in Gaza that all captives will be released on Monday, marking what could become a historic turning point in the two-year-long Israel–Hamas conflict.

Speaking directly with the families via phone on Thursday, President Trump said, “The hostages will come back — they’re all coming back on Monday.” The White House released footage of the emotional exchange, showing family members listening eagerly as Trump spoke, some shouting “Thank you!” and “You did it!” in gratitude.

One relative was heard telling the President, “Mr. President, we believe in you. We know you’ve done so much for us since becoming President — even before that. We trust you will fulfill the mission until every one of the 48 hostages is home. God bless you, Mr. President, and God bless America.”

Trump responded warmly, thanking the families and urging them to “take care” as cheers erupted during the call. The conversation concluded with chants of “We love you” from the families.

Later, in Washington, several families spoke publicly to acknowledge Trump’s assurance. “We came here to mark the October 7 attack, when our loved ones were captured by Hamas terrorists. Today, President Trump has done it — he announced that our hostages are coming home,” one family member declared.

In a joint statement, the families expressed “profound gratitude to President Trump and his team for their leadership and determination that led to this historic breakthrough.” They called upon the Israeli government to approve the agreement without delay, warning that “any hesitation could cost lives.”

“There are 48 hostages still held by Hamas,” the statement read. “It is our moral and national obligation to bring them all home — both the living and the deceased. Their return is essential for the healing and recovery of Israeli society.”

The Gaza Hostage Deal

Earlier this week, President Trump told Fox News that hostages in Gaza would “probably be released on Monday,” following an agreement brokered between Israel and Hamas. The deal — negotiated with mediation from Egypt under a Trump-backed peace framework — involves a temporary ceasefire and the release of hostages and prisoners on both sides.

According to reports, Hamas will release all 20 living hostages, while Israel will begin withdrawing its forces from most parts of Gaza. This marks the third ceasefire since the war began in 2023, with the first truce in November that year seeing over 100 hostages, mainly women and children, freed before it collapsed.

Analysts view the latest agreement as the most significant diplomatic progress in months, potentially paving the way for a long-term peace in the region.

“This is not just a ceasefire,” a senior U.S. official said. “It’s a chance to begin the process of rebuilding stability and trust in a region torn by years of conflict.”

With the families awaiting Monday’s release, the world watches closely — as the Trump administration’s latest Middle East initiative edges closer to delivering one of the most dramatic breakthroughs of his presidency.
