Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s younger son, Kasim Khan, has issued a grave warning about his father’s condition in prison, alleging that the former premier is being held in prolonged solitary confinement with no family access and no verifiable proof of life.
In a strongly worded post on X, Kasim stated that the family has been completely cut off from communication with Imran Khan and urged international organisations to intervene, holding the Pakistani authorities accountable for his safety.
“My father has been under arrest for 845 days. For the past six weeks, he has been kept in solitary confinement in a death cell with zero transparency,” he wrote. “There have been no phone calls, no meetings, and no proof of life. My brother and I have had no contact with our father.”
Who Is Kasim Khan?
Kasim Khan is the younger son of Imran Khan, born to the former prime minister and his ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith. Kasim and his elder brother Sulaiman were raised in the United Kingdom with their mother, away from Pakistan’s political spotlight.
Kasim’s Appeal to the International Community
Calling the situation “inhumane,” Kasim urged global human rights bodies, democratic governments, and international institutions to take immediate notice.
“I call on the international community, global human rights organisations, and every democratic voice to intervene urgently. Demand proof of life, enforce court-ordered access, end this inhumane isolation, and call for the release of Pakistan’s most popular political leader, who is being held solely for political reasons,” his statement read.
Authorities Reject Allegations, Deny Death Rumours
Meanwhile, officials at Adiala Jail have dismissed circulating rumours about Imran Khan’s health and alleged secret transfers.
“There is no truth to the reports regarding Imran Khan. He is fully healthy,” the jail administration said, adding that the former PM receives medical care and multiple facilities, including exercise equipment, a television, and upgraded living arrangements.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also defended the authorities, claiming Imran Khan enjoys “five-star level treatment” in custody, including special food and a velvet mattress—claims that Imran’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has strongly disputed.
