Bengaluru, November 10: A political controversy has erupted in Karnataka after a video surfaced purportedly showing a group of people offering namaz inside Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport. The footage, shared on social media by BJP leader Vijay Prasad, quickly went viral and has since sparked sharp criticism from the opposition party.
BJP Questions Congress Government
The BJP launched a direct attack on the Congress-led state government, demanding an explanation from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister Priyank Kharge.
“How is this even allowed inside the T2 terminal of Bengaluru International Airport?” the party questioned in an official statement.
How is this even allowed inside the T2 Terminal of Bengaluru International Airport?

Hon’ble Chief Minister @siddaramaiah and Minister @PriyankKharge do you approve of this?
Did these individuals obtain prior permission to offer Namaz in a high-security airport zone?

Vijay Prasad accused the government of “double standards” and appeasement politics, alleging that the same administration which had previously objected to RSS events was now turning a blind eye to religious activities being conducted within a high-security airport zone.
“This clearly exposes the Congress government’s selective approach. When it comes to certain communities, they remain silent,” Prasad claimed.
The BJP further demanded to know whether official permission had been granted for the prayers, calling the matter one of public concern and security sensitivity.
Airport Management Clarification
While the BJP has held the state government responsible, officials pointed out that Kempegowda International Airport is managed by Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) — a public-private partnership that oversees airport operations and security in coordination with central agencies.
BIAL has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident or whether the individuals involved had obtained permission to offer prayers within the terminal.
The video’s circulation has intensified political debate in Karnataka, with the opposition and ruling parties trading barbs over religious freedom, public conduct, and security protocols in one of India’s busiest airports.
