Authorities in Nepal have reimposed a curfew in Bara district following fresh clashes between Gen-Z protesters and cadres of the Communist Party of Nepal–Unified Marxist Leninist (UML), led by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The District Administration Office confirmed that the curfew will remain in effect until 8 p.m. (local time) on Thursday, citing rising tensions and the urgent need to stabilise the situation.
The confrontation, which first escalated earlier this week, intensified when groups of young demonstrators—who have been central to a new wave of political activism in Nepal—engaged in heated face-offs with UML supporters.
Security forces have been strategically deployed at major intersections and sensitive zones across Bara to prevent further violence. Authorities continue to closely monitor developments as the district grapples with a surge in political unrest and public dissent.
