Red Fort Blast: Intelligence Uncovers Plot to Use 32 Explosive-Laden Cars for Coordinated Terror Attacks

New Delhi: Intelligence agencies have revealed chilling details of a larger terror conspiracy linked to the recent car explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort. According to official sources, the suspects had allegedly planned to rig around 32 old vehicles with explosives to carry out coordinated attacks across multiple locations in the national capital and surrounding regions.

The powerful explosion that ripped through the area outside Lal Quila Metro Station around 6:52 p.m. on Monday killed at least ten people and injured more than twenty others. The blast triggered a massive fire, destroying several vehicles in one of the most heavily guarded zones of Delhi.

Following the incident, multiple investigation teams, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), were deployed to the site. Authorities have confirmed that the explosion was an act of terrorism.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who returned from a state visit to Bhutan on Wednesday evening, visited the injured victims at LNJP Hospital. Later, the Union Cabinet passed a resolution condemning the blast, officially classifying it as a terror attack and reaffirming India’s firm stance of zero tolerance toward terrorism.

NIA Takes Over Investigation

The NIA, which has assumed charge of the probe, recovered live cartridges and multiple types of explosives from the scene. Investigators suspect that the prime accused, Dr. Umar Nabi, may have panicked after the multi-state “white-collar” terror module was busted in Faridabad, leading to the accidental detonation of the explosives he was transporting in a Hyundai i20 car.

To confirm his identity, forensic teams conducted DNA testing, which matched samples recovered from the car with those of Umar Nabi’s mother, conclusively proving that he was present inside the vehicle at the time of the blast.

Investigators are now analyzing Umar’s mobile phone data, digital footprint, and communication records to trace possible links with wider terror networks.

The Red Fort blast, which has shocked the capital, is being treated as part of a larger, premeditated terror conspiracy, with intelligence officials warning that the planned attacks could have caused catastrophic damage if fully executed. The NIA continues its investigation, focusing on uncovering the masterminds and financial backers behind the plot.
