Hyderabad Murder: 26-Year-Old Vendetta Behind the Killing of Real Estate Agent

Huderabad: The shocking daylight murder in Hyderabad has taken a dramatic turn, with investigations revealing that a 26-year-old personal vendetta—rather than a land dispute—triggered the killing of real estate agent Venkata Ratnam.

Ratnam, 54, was brutally hacked to death on Monday while returning home after dropping his daughter at school. Initial reports had pointed to a property dispute as the motive, but new findings indicate that the root cause lies in a decades-old grudge.

A Grudge Dating Back 26 Years

According to media reports, the prime accused has been identified as Chandan Singh, the son of Sudesh Singh, who was killed in a controversial police encounter in 1999. At the time, Ratnam had been employed as Sudesh Singh’s driver.

Sources reveal that Chandan harboured a deep belief that Ratnam had provided police with crucial information that led to his father’s encounter killing. This perceived “betrayal” reportedly fuelled a long-standing desire for revenge that persisted for over 25 years.

After spending years searching for Ratnam—who had been living quietly with his family in the Jawahar Nagar area of Hyderabad—Chandan is said to have finally traced him in recent weeks. Investigators believe he spent the past month closely tracking Ratnam’s movements and planning the murder.

Brutal Daylight Murder

On Monday morning, Ratnam was ambushed and repeatedly stabbed in the stomach, back, and neck. Disturbing CCTV footage of the attack has since circulated widely on social media, capturing the ruthlessness of the assault.

Police sources say Chandan Singh’s associates, including workers from an auto repair workshop, were involved in the attack. The group executed the killing in a swift and coordinated manner, leaving Ratnam fatally injured on the spot.

Accused Surrender Hours After the Crime

In a dramatic development, Chandan Singh and five accomplices surrendered at the Shahinayathgunj Police Station just hours after the murder. The station promptly relayed the information to the Jawahar Nagar Police, where the murder case had originally been registered.

Police have now taken all six suspects into custody, and further investigation is underway to uncover additional details behind the long-standing feud and the planning that led to this cold-blooded killing.
