Major Breakthrough in Chhattisgarh: Top Naxalite Leader Ramdher Majji Surrenders Along With 11 Associates

Raipur: In a significant success for Chhattisgarh’s anti-Naxalite operations, 12 hardened Naxalites—including Central Committee member Ramdher Majji—have surrendered in Khairagarh. Officials described this as one of the most important setbacks for Naxalite leadership in recent years.

Top Commander Ramdher Majji Lays Down Arms

Ramdher Majji, a key figure in the North Bastar Division, surrendered at the Bakarkatta police station in Kumhi village, Khairagarh. He was accompanied by Divisional Committee Member (DVCM) rank cadres Chandu Usendi, Lalita, Janaki, and Prem. Among the group, two Naxalites were armed with AK-47 and INSAS rifles, which were also handed over to the police.

In addition, Area Committee Members (ACM) Ramsingh Dada and Sukesh Pottam, along with Party Member (PM) rank cadres Laxmi, Sheela, Yogita, Kavita, and Sagar, also surrendered. All 12 are currently being interrogated as security agencies attempt to extract crucial intelligence regarding Naxalite network structures and upcoming plans.

One-Crore Rupee Bounty on Ramdher Majji

Ramdher Majji, considered one of the most influential leaders after the notorious Hidma in the Bastar region, carried a bounty of ₹1 crore. He served as the commander of the MMC zone and is believed to have masterminded several major attacks. Police sources say he operated under a three-tier security cover and exercised immense control in the MMC region.

Recent Surrender in Madhya Pradesh Signals Wider Cracks

The development comes just a day after prominent Naxalite leader Kabir and his associates surrendered in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav attended the ceremony in Balaghat as Kabir and his team handed over sophisticated weapons, including AK-47s, INSAS rifles, and SLRs.

A Turning Point in Anti-Naxalite Campaign

Security officials believe the successive high-profile surrenders indicate sustained pressure on Naxalite ranks and weakening morale within the organisation. Authorities expect further actionable intelligence that could significantly aid future operations.
