, reportedly lost control while negotiating a curve and toppled onto a Bolero carrying students of Satya Public School.
According to eyewitnesses, the alert response of the Bolero driver, who attempted to swerve the vehicle moments before impact, helped avert a potentially fatal outcome. The school vehicle was partially buried under sugarcane, prompting nearby shopkeepers and local residents to rush to the scene. They smashed the windows and rear glass of the Bolero and swiftly rescued the trapped children.
One student, Samrat (12), son of Ajit Singh of Bichpuri village, sustained minor injuries. He was taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC), treated, and later discharged.
Administrative Response
On receiving information, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chaluburaj R., Tehsildar Arun Kumar, and Inspector Umesh Chandra Chaurasia reached the spot. Two JCB machines were deployed to remove the sugarcane and clear the road. The truck driver fled the scene following the accident, officials said.
The SDM later visited Bichpuri village to enquire about the children’s condition and spoke with their families. The incident drew a large crowd of anxious parents and local residents, briefly creating a tense situation, which was brought under control following police intervention.
The accident has once again raised concerns over the movement of overloaded sugarcane trucks on busy rural roads, particularly during the crushing season.
