BANDA, UTTAR PRADESH: In a landmark judgment involving the brutal sexual assault of a six-year-old girl, a Special POCSO Court in Banda has awarded the death penalty to 24-year-old Amit Raikwar. Pronouncing the 46-page verdict, Special Judge Pradeep Kumar Mishra ordered that the convict be hanged until death, subsequently snapping the nib of his pen—a symbolic gesture signifying the gravity of the crime and the finality of the ultimate punishment.
The Heinous Act
The harrowing incident occurred on July 25, 2025, within the jurisdiction of the Kalinjar Police Station. According to the prosecution, the convict intercepted the victim while she was returning from school. Luring her under the pretext of buying her sweets (gutkha/candy), Raikwar took the child to his residence where he subjected her to extreme physical and sexual violence.
Medical examinations later revealed a chilling degree of brutality, including multiple bite marks and severe internal injuries across the child's body. The convict was apprehended following a late-night encounter with the police shortly after the incident.
Expedited Trial and Evidence
The case was treated with the highest priority, with the Kalinjar Police filing a comprehensive chargesheet on October 7, 2025. The 56-day trial saw the testimony of ten witnesses and the presentation of airtight scientific evidence:
Medical & Forensic Proof: A panel of three doctors testified to the severity of the injuries, supported by forensic and DNA reports that conclusively linked Raikwar to the crime.
Legal Arguments: Government counsel Kamal Singh argued that the case fell within the "rarest of rare" categories, emphasizing the predatory nature of the attack on an innocent child.
Court’s Observation: The court dismissed the defense's claims regarding a lack of evidence, stating that such "dehumanizing" acts leave no room for mercy and pose a threat to the moral fabric of society.
Police Commendation
Superintendent of Police (SP) Palas Bansal lauded the investigative team for their swift action and meticulous documentation, which ensured a conviction within months of the crime. The verdict has been hailed as a significant step in ensuring the safety of minors and upholding the stringent provisions of the POCSO Act.
