In a significant relief for air travellers across India, the government has initiated measures to regulate additional charges levied by airlines on seat selection, while simultaneously reinforcing passenger rights to ensure a more transparent and consumer-friendly flying experience.
As part of a broader effort to enhance passenger convenience, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has rolled out a series of traveller-focused initiatives aimed at improving overall ease of travel. Among these are the introduction of UDAN Yatri Cafés, offering affordable food options at airports, and the ‘Flybrary’ concept, which provides passengers with free access to books during their journey.
Additionally, the ministry has expanded the availability of complimentary Wi-Fi services across airports, further aligning with its objective of creating a seamless and accessible travel ecosystem for passengers.
These measures reflect the government’s growing emphasis on passenger welfare and its commitment to making air travel in India more affordable, convenient, and inclusive.
