NEW DELHI – Following days of significant disruptions and airspace restrictions, air connectivity between India and several West Asian hubs is showing signs of a phased recovery. While the geopolitical conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran continues to pose logistical challenges, major Indian carriers have begun restoring services to key destinations.
Resumption of Dubai Services
Following recent clearances from the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, major players including Air India, Air India Express, and IndiGo have officially resumed operations to Dubai.
As of Thursday, March 19, Air India has scheduled a total of 48 flights to and from the West Asian region.
- 16 regular scheduled operations.
- 32 additional non-scheduled services designed to clear the backlog of stranded passengers.
Phased Restoration by Akasa Air
Akasa Air has also initiated a strategic restoration of its network after comprehensive safety assessments. The airline announced the resumption of its Riyadh–Mumbai route starting today. Furthermore, operations remain active between Jeddah and several Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kochi, and Kozhikode.
However, caution remains the priority. Akasa Air has extended the suspension of its services to Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Kuwait until at least March 21, citing the need for further situational reviews.
A Challenging Aviation Landscape
The ongoing conflict has forced airlines to navigate a complex environment of restricted airspaces and fluctuating safety protocols.
