Modi Tops Global Approval Rankings with 68%, Leads World Leaders Survey

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the world’s most popular global leader, according to the latest survey conducted by Morning Consult.

The survey, conducted between March 2 and March 8, 2026, places Modi at the top of the global approval rankings with a 68% approval rating—the highest among all leaders assessed. Around 26% of respondents disapproved of his leadership, while 6% remained undecided or expressed no opinion.

The rankings are based on a seven-day rolling average of responses collected from adults across multiple countries, offering a dynamic snapshot of global public sentiment toward democratic leaders.

Following Modi, Guy Parmelin of Switzerland and Lee Jae-myung of South Korea secured the second and third positions respectively, each with a 62% approval rating.

Amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, particularly linked to the Iran conflict, U.S. President Donald Trump registered an approval rating of 39%.

Other leaders with comparatively lower ratings include:

  • Anthony Albanese – 37%
  • Jonas Gahr Støre – 36%
  • Pedro Sánchez – 36%
  • Cyril Ramaphosa – 33%
  • Christian Stocker – 33%

At the lower end of the spectrum, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer recorded 24%, while Germany’s Friedrich Merz stood at 20%.

French President Emmanuel Macron ranked last among the surveyed leaders, with a 17% approval rating and a significant 75% disapproval rate.
