DUBAI – A drone crashed near the United States Consulate in Dubai late Tuesday night, marking the latest in a series of aerial incidents targeting American diplomatic missions across the Gulf region.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the incident, stating that while the drone landed in the vicinity of the consulate, all American personnel are accounted for and safe.
Emergency Response and Damage Control
The Dubai Media Office reported that the impact triggered a fire near the diplomatic compound. Emergency response teams were dispatched immediately, successfully containing the blaze and securing the perimeter.
- Casualties: No injuries or fatalities have been reported.
- Local Impact: Residents informed news agency AFP of hearing a "massive explosion" followed by visible smoke and flames.
- Security Measures: Local police evacuated the immediate area and established a security cordon to facilitate investigations.
Escalating Regional Tensions
The incident occurs amidst heightened geopolitical friction between the U.S.-Israel alliance and Iran. With retaliatory strikes becoming more frequent, major cities across the Gulf remain on high alert.
This attack follows a pattern of similar strikes reported earlier this week:
- Riyadh: The Saudi Ministry of Defense confirmed two drones struck near the U.S. Embassy early Tuesday morning.
- Kuwait City: A drone incident was reported at the U.S. Embassy on Monday.
While unverified footage of smoke rising near the Dubai consulate has circulated widely on social media, official sources have yet to confirm the authenticity of these videos. Investigations into the origin of the drone are currently underway.
