NEW DELHI: A sense of fear and mourning has gripped the Bhajanpura area of Northeast Delhi after an 18-year-old youth was brutally stabbed to death in the early hours of Tuesday. The victim, identified as Mohammed Asif, was found with multiple stab wounds near a local Krishna temple, a short distance from his residence in Subhash Mohalla.
The Incident
The tranquility of the neighborhood was shattered at dawn when residents discovered the youth lying in a pool of blood on a narrow street. According to local witnesses, the commotion began while most residents were still asleep. Family members and neighbors rushed to the scene upon hearing the news, finding Asif in a critical state.
He was immediately transported to a nearby private hospital. Despite emergency medical intervention, the severity of the deep puncture wounds proved fatal, and he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police Investigation and Forensic Lead
The Delhi Police have officially registered a case of murder and have formed multiple specialized teams to apprehend the perpetrators. A primary focus of the investigation is the retrieval and analysis of CCTV footage from cameras installed near the Krishna temple and surrounding escape routes.
Key Investigative Points:
Motive: Authorities are exploring all possible angles, including personal enmity or a sudden altercation, to establish a motive for the killing.
Suspects: Forensics and local intelligence are working to identify the number of individuals involved in the targeted attack.
Post-Mortem: The body has been sent for a formal autopsy to determine the exact number and nature of the injuries.
Security Concerns in the Capital
The brazen nature of the attack in a residential pocket has once again raised significant concerns regarding the law enforcement climate in the national capital. To prevent any communal or social flare-ups and to restore public confidence, security presence has been intensified across the Bhajanpura district.
While the police maintain that they are closing in on the suspects, the local community remains on edge, demanding swift justice for the bereaved family.
