Guardian Turned Executioner: Madhya Pradesh Doctor Orchestrates Gruesome Murder of Wife

SAGAR, MADHYA PRADESH: In a case that has sent shockwaves through the region, a medical professional in Sagar district stands accused of transitioning from a lifesaver to a "cold-blooded" killer. Dr. Nilesh Kurmi was arrested following the horrific discovery of his wife, Seema Kurmi, charred beyond recognition inside a vehicle—a tragedy initially framed as an accident but later revealed to be a calculated homicide.

The Night of the Crime

The incident unfolded in the early hours of March 20. According to police investigations, a heated confrontation erupted between the couple at approximately 2:00 AM regarding the doctor’s alleged extramarital affair. In a fit of rage, Dr. Kurmi reportedly strangled his wife.

To cover his tracks, the suspect enlisted the help of two tenants, Ramkrishna and Shubham. He misled his young daughter, who had woken up during the commotion, chillingly telling her, "Your mother is unwell; I am taking her to the hospital. Lock the door from inside." Instead of a medical facility, the victim was driven 50 kilometers away to a secluded stretch near Chanatoria.

A Failed Conspiracy

Upon reaching a desolate spot on Gadhakota Road around 4:00 AM, the suspect allegedly doused the vehicle and his unconscious wife with petrol and set them ablaze. Investigators noted a disturbing detail: the doctor and his accomplices reportedly stood by the roadside, watching the car incinerate without making any attempt to call for help or douse the flames.

The suspect initially attempted to deceive authorities with three conflicting narratives:

  1. He claimed his wife suffered a sudden heart attack.

  2. He alleged a truck collision caused the vehicle to ignite.

  3. He suggested a CNG tank explosion was the culprit.

Forensic Breakthrough

The "perfect crime" unraveled when forensic experts examined the wreckage. Contrary to the suspect's claims, the CNG tank remained completely intact, proving that the fire was not an accidental explosion but an act of arson. Further evidence from CCTV footage at local toll plazas dismantled the doctor’s timeline of events, placing him at the scene of the crime.

Official Statement

Additional SP Lokesh Sinha confirmed the arrests, stating, "The investigation initially flagged the incident as suspicious. The accused has since confessed to the crime. We are currently awaiting the post-mortem report to determine if the victim died of strangulation or was tragically burnt alive."

Dr. Kurmi and his two accomplices remain in custody as the legal proceedings continue.
