Abu Dhabi: The 285th series draw of the Abu Dhabi Big Ticket has produced a major winner, with an Indian entrepreneur emerging victorious and taking home the grand prize of Dh 20 million (approximately ₹45 crore). The winner, Shamon Shaji from Kerala, has now joined the ranks of some of the most notable prize recipients in the history of the draw.
In the same draw, another highlight prize—the luxury Maserati Grecale—was awarded to Somali national Ahmed Mohammed, who works as a supervisor in Sharjah.
Collective Effort Yields Big Reward
Ahmed Mohammed’s win stands out as a testament to teamwork and persistence. A UAE resident since 2005, he purchased the winning ticket in collaboration with 30 colleagues. The group has consistently participated in the Big Ticket draw every month, making their recent success the culmination of sustained effort and optimism.
Expressing his excitement, Ahmed said the luxury car win has further strengthened their resolve to continue participating, with hopes of securing the grand prize in the future. He also described the victory as a meaningful opportunity to support his loved ones.
April Campaign: ‘Month of Millionaires’
The Big Ticket organisers have designated April as the ‘Month of Millionaires’, introducing a series of attractive prize offerings. The next draw, scheduled for May 3, will feature a grand prize of Dh 25 million.
Additional highlights include:
- Guaranteed prizes of Dh 1 million each for five winners
- Weekly draws offering Dh 25,000
- A special cash prize draw on May 1 for participants who purchase two tickets before April 24
Participants also stand a chance to win premium vehicles such as the Land Rover Defender and Range Rover Velar as part of the promotional campaign.
Family Reaction
Reacting to the unexpected windfall, Shamon Shaji’s family said they are still coming to terms with the magnitude of the win. They indicated that no immediate decisions have been made regarding the utilisation of the prize money, and that the family would take time to plan their next steps.
The latest draw has once again captured the imagination of expatriates across the Gulf, reinforcing the Big Ticket’s reputation as a platform of hope and opportunity. With increasing participation expected in the coming weeks, the momentum surrounding the campaign continues to build.
