SAHARANPUR: A disturbing video depicting the brutal torture of a minor at a madarsa in Gangoh, Saharanpur, has surfaced, sparking widespread outrage and swift police action. The footage, which recently went viral on social media, shows two clerics mercilessly assaulting a 10-year-old boy.
The Viral Footage
The video, approximately 1 minute and 49 seconds long, captures a harrowing scene where one cleric holds the child upside down by his legs while another repeatedly strikes him with a stick. Reports indicate that the boy was struck nearly 36 times within a span of 42 seconds. Despite the child’s desperate pleas for mercy and agonizing screams, the assault continued unabated while a third individual filmed the ordeal.
Although the incident is reportedly about 18 months old, it gained significant public attention after appearing on social media on April 3, leading to immediate protests in the locality.
Police Action and Arrests
Following the social media outcry, Khari Sajid Hasan of Khanpur Gurjar village filed a formal complaint at the Gangoh Police Station. Acting on the report, the police identified the location as Madarsa Darul Uloom Zakariya.
The perpetrators have been identified as Maulana Junaid, who was seen beating the child, and Shoaib, who held the boy down. Both suspects have been arrested. During interrogation, the accused reportedly claimed they assaulted the boy because he had attempted to run away from the madarsa.
Official Statement
Gangoh Circle Officer, Ashok Kumar Sisodia, confirmed the developments, stating, "A case has been registered against the two individuals seen in the viral video from Gangoh, Saharanpur. Both Junaid and Shoaib have been taken into custody, and strict legal proceedings are underway."
The incident has once again raised serious concerns regarding the safety and protection of children in private educational institutions, with community leaders demanding rigorous oversight to prevent such barbaric acts in the future.
