Food Delivery Worker Shot Dead in Dwarka; Police Launch Manhunt for Accused Constable

A food delivery agent was shot dead at point-blank range and his friend injured following a verbal altercation in Delhi’s Dwarka area early Sunday, in an incident that has triggered public outrage and demands for swift justice.

According to Delhi Police, the incident occurred in the early hours in Jaffarpur Kalan village. The deceased has been identified as Pandav Kumar (21), while his injured friend, Krishan, is currently undergoing treatment.

Preliminary findings indicate that both victims had attended a birthday celebration at a friend’s residence. After the event, they were conversing with the hosts on the roadside when the accused, identified as Neeraj, allegedly approached them and became involved in an argument.

During the altercation, the accused reportedly opened fire at close range, aiming at Kumar’s chest. The bullet passed through Kumar’s body and struck Krishan, who was seated behind him on a motorcycle, in the abdomen. Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Kumar was declared dead.

Family members have alleged that the accused is a head constable with the Delhi Police, though officials have not formally confirmed his designation. Authorities have registered a case against the absconding suspect and launched a manhunt to apprehend him.

Relatives of the deceased have strongly contested the circumstances of the incident, describing the shooting as unprovoked. Kumar’s mother, quoted by PTI, appealed for justice, stating that her son had been working diligently as a delivery partner to support the family. Other family members echoed similar sentiments, noting that he was the sole breadwinner.

The incident has led to protests by family members and local residents outside the Jaffarpur Kalan police station, with demonstrators demanding immediate arrest of the accused and stringent legal action.

Police officials stated that the accused hails from Bahu Akbarpur village in Rohtak, Haryana, and had been residing alone in the area for several years. Investigators are continuing to examine the sequence of events leading up to the shooting, and further inquiries are underway.
