Gujarat Titans (GT) will host a resurgent Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a crucial Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 encounter on Thursday night at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The contest comes at a pivotal stage of the tournament, with both sides aiming to strengthen their positions in the standings.
At the halfway mark of the season, Gujarat Titans have endured a mixed campaign, registering four wins and four defeats from eight matches. In contrast, defending champions RCB have emerged as one of the most dominant sides this season, securing six victories from eight outings and building strong momentum.
RCB’s success has been underpinned by an effective bowling unit, particularly the new-ball pairing of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood. While Bhuvneshwar has rediscovered his trademark swing, Hazlewood’s disciplined line and length have consistently troubled batters. In the middle overs, the inclusion of left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya has added further control and variety.
For Gujarat Titans, batting contributions have largely been concentrated at the top. Sai Sudharsan, captain Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler have accounted for the bulk of the runs, while Washington Sundar has provided stability in the middle order. However, the team will be looking for greater impact from finishers such as Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia, who are yet to make significant contributions this season. The addition of Jason Holder to the middle order is expected to bolster depth.
The two sides met just a week ago in Bengaluru, where RCB chased down a challenging target of 206 with seven balls to spare, underlining their batting strength. Head-to-head records also slightly favour RCB, who have won four of the seven encounters between the two teams.
Historically, Virat Kohli has been a standout performer in this fixture, accumulating 432 runs in seven innings, including multiple half-centuries. On the bowling front, Rashid Khan remains a key figure for Gujarat Titans with his wicket-taking ability.
The Ahmedabad pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium is traditionally conducive to high-scoring games, although it has produced mixed results this season. Notably, teams batting first have enjoyed greater success, winning nine out of twelve matches at the venue. Gujarat Titans, however, have struggled at home, losing two of their three matches so far.
The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST on April 30. Fans can catch the live action via streaming on JioHotstar as well as television broadcast on Star Sports.
With form, momentum, and playoff implications at stake, Thursday’s clash promises to be a high-intensity contest between two sides with contrasting trajectories in IPL 2026.
