Iran Condemns Israeli Strikes in Lebanon, Warns of Consequences Amid Fragile Ceasefire

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has strongly condemned Israel’s recent military operations in Lebanon, describing them as a violation of an existing ceasefire agreement and a threat to ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region.

In a statement shared on social media, Pezeshkian said Israel’s renewed incursion into Lebanon reflects “a dangerous sign of deception and lack of commitment” to negotiated agreements. He cautioned that continued military action could derail fragile peace efforts, warning that “the continuation of these actions will render negotiations meaningless.”

Reaffirming Iran’s support for Lebanon, the Iranian president stated that Tehran would stand firmly by its regional allies. “Our fingers remain on the trigger. Iran will never abandon its Lebanese sisters and brothers,” he said, underscoring the country’s readiness to respond if hostilities persist.

He further characterised the situation as ongoing aggression, describing repeated Israeli strikes as a “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire framework and an indication of eroding trust in diplomatic processes.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Issues Warning

Echoing similar concerns, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned of significant consequences in the event of continued ceasefire violations.

In a separate statement, Ghalibaf emphasised the role of Iran’s regional allies, referring to Lebanon and the broader “Resistance Axis” as integral components of the ceasefire framework. He also cited remarks by Shehbaz Sharif, noting that the Lebanon issue had been explicitly acknowledged at the international level.

Issuing a direct warning, Ghalibaf stated that any breach of the ceasefire would carry “explicit costs and strong responses,” urging all parties to de-escalate tensions immediately.

Rising Regional Concerns

The statements come amid escalating tensions in West Asia, with growing concerns over the stability of the ceasefire and the risk of a broader regional conflict. Observers warn that continued hostilities could undermine diplomatic initiatives and further destabilise an already volatile geopolitical landscape.
