Bengaluru/Chintamani: A deeply disturbing incident has been reported involving a man from Karnataka who allegedly inflicted severe self-harm after struggling with personal distress linked to a marital separation. Authorities have launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The individual, identified as Sriramulu, is a resident of Narayanahalli village in Chintamani taluk. According to preliminary information, he had been experiencing emotional distress after his wife, Pavithra, reportedly left him to live with another man. Those familiar with the situation indicated that he had been grappling with depression in the aftermath.
Incident in Forest Area
Seeking support, Sriramulu had recently travelled to stay with his sister near Madanapalle in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh. On Sunday, he reportedly ventured alone into a forested area near Madina Konda.
Police sources indicate that he consumed a large quantity of alcohol and, in an intoxicated and distressed state, allegedly used a knife to inflict severe injuries upon himself.
Rescue and Medical Response
The man was discovered by shepherds in the area, who immediately alerted locals. He was rushed to a nearby government hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Medical authorities have stated that his condition is being closely monitored.
Investigation Underway
Local police have initiated an inquiry to establish the full sequence of events and verify the circumstances leading up to the incident. No arrests have been made so far.
Officials have described the case as a matter requiring careful investigation, while also highlighting the importance of timely support and intervention in situations involving severe emotional distress.
