Priyanka Ala Appointed Hyderabad District Collector Following Major Telangana Bureaucratic Reshuffle

Priyanka Ala, a 2016-batch IAS officer with a medical background, has assumed charge as the new District Collector of Hyderabad, following a significant administrative reshuffle by the Government of Telangana.

She succeeds Hari Chandana Dasari, a 2010-batch officer who had been serving as Hyderabad Collector since June 2025. Her appointment forms part of a broader bureaucratic realignment that saw nearly 30 IAS officers transferred across the state, indicating a strategic reshaping of key administrative positions.

Ala’s professional profile is distinguished by her academic training in medicine. She holds an MBBS degree and transitioned into public service after successfully clearing the Civil Services Examination, joining the Telangana cadre. Her career reflects a blend of administrative expertise and a grounded understanding of public health systems.

Prior to this appointment, she served as Zonal Commissioner of Khairatabad in Hyderabad, where she oversaw critical aspects of urban governance. She has also held the position of District Collector of Bhadradri Kothagudem, gaining valuable experience in district-level administration and on-ground policy implementation.

Her familiarity with Telangana’s administrative landscape—both through her professional assignments and regional experience—is expected to be an asset as she takes charge of one of the state’s most high-profile and demanding roles. Hyderabad, marked by rapid urban expansion, complex civic challenges, and high governance expectations, presents a multifaceted administrative environment.

The reshuffle has also seen several senior officials reassigned to new roles. Hari Chandana Dasari, for instance, has been appointed Secretary to the Labour, Employment, Training and Factories Department, among other key changes across departments.

As Priyanka Ala steps into her new role, attention will be focused on how she navigates the capital’s evolving administrative challenges, including civic management, infrastructure demands, and inter-departmental coordination, in a position that carries both high visibility and significant responsibility.
