Begusarai: A shocking incident of violence rooted in rivalry and humiliation has come to light in Begusarai, Bihar, where a young man was shot dead following a heated confrontation between two groups.
According to police, tensions had been simmering for some time between the victim, identified as Birju Sahni, and the prime accused, Kishan Mahato, over issues of dominance and personal enmity. The conflict reportedly escalated when members of Kishan’s group allegedly assaulted an associate of the victim. In retaliation, Birju is said to have repeatedly pressured Kishan to publicly apologise by touching his feet—an act perceived as deeply humiliating.
Authorities stated that the accused, along with three accomplices, subsequently conspired to eliminate Birju in response to the perceived insult.
The incident occurred on the evening of April 5, when both groups engaged in a heated altercation that quickly turned violent. During the confrontation, Kishan allegedly drew a pistol and fired at Birju at close range, fatally striking him in the neck. The victim also sustained stab injuries and died on the spot.
Following the हत्या, the accused fled the scene. Acting on intelligence inputs, police traced Kishan to Munger, where he had been hiding. A team led by local police officials conducted a raid and apprehended him, recovering the firearm used in the crime from a hut near Suhagi bridge.
During interrogation, Kishan reportedly confessed to the हत्या and disclosed the identities of his accomplices. Police have launched further efforts to track down the remaining suspects.
Kundan Kumar, the DSP overseeing the investigation, confirmed that both the victim and the accused were residents of the same village, and described the crime as the culmination of a long-standing feud driven by ego and retaliation.
The incident underscores the deadly consequences of escalating personal rivalries, with authorities continuing their investigation to bring all those involved to justice
