New Delhi: We will have to wait a while longer to know who the new ‘chief’ of Kerala will be. After three hours of discussions at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence, the leaders came out and called for an end to the war of factions. Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi will jointly announce who the Chief Minister will be later.
Chief Ministerial candidates V.D. Satheesan, K.C. Venugopal and Ramesh Chennithala have demanded an end to the demonstrations in the names of the leaders and the removal of the flexboards. The high command will take the final decision on who the Chief Minister will be. After the meeting, AICC General Secretary in charge of Kerala, Deepadas Munshi, said that there is time till May 23. The Congress leaders in Kerala responded later. V.D. Satheesan said, ‘We have achieved a brilliant victory in Kerala. It is the biggest victory in history that all the leaders have achieved together and all the workers have worked hard.
Later, such partisan demonstrations, partisan flex boards, and campaigns on social media have created a propaganda that there is a divisiveness in our party. Therefore, we all say together, we should not campaign for anyone like that anymore, it will hurt Congress workers, it will hurt UDF workers who voted for us, it will make the vast majority of people who voted for us suffer. Therefore, we all stand together and request all UDF workers, from today onwards, do not do any such thing.
All the flex boards put up in the state should be removed tonight if possible. It should not happen tomorrow. Do not hold a single demonstration at any place. All of us, especially the three of us, have come together to do all this.’ K.C. Venugopal ‘The people want the best government in Kerala. All the unfortunate incidents that happened earlier should be ended as a thing of the past. We give utmost importance to the party and the people. The leaders want to move forward strictly according to the decisions of the Congress President and Rahul Gandhi.
I humbly request the workers to stop holding demonstrations or erecting boards that defame other leaders in the name of personal interests. Everyone should take a helpful stance for the unity of the party.’ Ramesh Chennithala ‘We should work for the unity of the party by avoiding holding demonstrations and erecting boards for personal interests. The leaders want to move forward according to the decisions of the Congress President and Rahul Gandhi.
The UDF has won a historic victory. The people of Kerala are happy with that victory. Meanwhile, some propaganda related to the names of our three people has been going on for the last few days. It is true that enthusiastic people or interested people have put up boards, tied banners and taken out marches like this. Everything should be stopped from today. It is causing the party to be portrayed badly among the people.’
