Odesa Hit by Russian Drone Strike, Five Injured

KYIV — At least five people were wounded on Sunday when a Russian drone strike hit the critical Ukrainian port city of Odesa, local officials reported. The attack caused significant damage to residential neighborhoods across multiple districts, compounding a wave of violence that has kept the region under severe strain.

Regional administrators confirmed that emergency services were immediately dispatched to the impacted sites to extinguish fires and assist residents. Sunday's assault comes right on the heels of a separate deadly drone strike that struck an apartment building in the city, killing two people and injuring dozens more.

Odesa, serving as Ukraine’s primary maritime trade and port hub, has faced recurrent aerial attacks that continue to disrupt vital shipping corridors. Meanwhile, regional authorities reported that overlapping drone and missile strikes extended into western regions through the night and into the morning hours. Air defense units remain on high alert across multiple Ukrainian oblasts as the frequency of targeted infrastructure and urban bombardments persists.
