DUBLIN — Ireland has issued Status Yellow rain warnings for parts of the country as Storm Austen is expected to bring heavy rainfall and possible travel disruption this week.
Met Éireann has warned of a period of heavy rain in Dublin and Wicklow from 1 am to 8 am on Wednesday, October 21. A separate warning for Kerry and Cork is scheduled to take effect from 7 pm on Thursday, October 22, until 8 am on Friday, October 23.
The forecaster said the rainfall could lead to localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions. The warnings are particularly relevant to commuters, motorists and people travelling during the affected periods.
Residents are advised to check official weather updates before travelling and allow extra time for journeys if conditions deteriorate.
The warnings cover specific periods and counties; they do not mean that all of Ireland is under a rain warning.
