NAGOYA: India continued its medal-winning campaign at the 2026 Asian Para Games, with Ayush Verma winning gold in the men’s shot put F53 event and para-archers Sheetal Devi and Payal Nag taking silver in women’s compound doubles.
Verma recorded a best throw of 8.16 metres to secure gold. Anubhav Choudhary also won bronze in the men’s 100 metres T35 event, adding to India’s growing medal tally.
In archery, Sheetal and Payal lost 141–150 to China’s Xu Xueqing and Zhao Jing in the women’s compound doubles final. The Indian pair had reached the gold-medal match after a strong run in the earlier rounds.
Sheetal, who was born without arms, uses her feet to shoot. Payal is also a para-athlete with significant physical impairments. Both have emerged as notable young competitors in international para-archery.
India’s campaign continues across athletics, archery, badminton, swimming and other disciplines, with further opportunities to add to the medal tally.
