DUBLIN — Gardaí have arrested three people after seizing cocaine worth an estimated €2.5 million, three firearms and ammunition during an operation in Dublin's north inner city.
The seizure took place on Monday, November 2, as part of Operation Tara, led by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau. The firearms included a submachine gun and two pistols. Investigators also recovered several mobile phones during the operation.
Two men, both in their 30s, and a woman in her 20s were arrested under Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006, which deals with offences connected to organised criminal activity. They were taken to a Dublin Garda station for questioning under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007. The estimated street value of the cocaine is subject to analysis. Gardaí said investigations into the suspected criminal network are continuing.
