Another dark history of independent India has hit the silver screen. Kashmir Files is a Hindi film based on the lives of Kashmiri Pandits during the 1990 Kashmir riots.
Though the film was released on only 630 screens across India, the film collected Rs 3.55 crore on its opening day. The film is made on a small budget. The film has nothing to do with mainstream Bollywood cinema. The stars are not in the picture either.
Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film is produced by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri under the banner of Sea Studios, IAM Buddha and Abhishek Agarwal Arts. Akshay Kumar congratulates The Kashmir Files starring Anupam Kher. She is the only Bollywood A-list star to have tweeted about the film so far.
Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files is getting rave reviews everywhere. The film, which was released amidst numerous hurdles and legal hurdles, is witnessing some of the best box office numbers. The Kashmir files were lauded by many filmmakers and audiences for their courageous and sensitive portrayal of the plight of Kashmiri Pandits during the 1990 riots. Akshay Kumar was one of the first A-listed Bollywood actors to compliment The Kashmir files. He tweeted that he would like to see the picture soon.
