Minister of Justice, Helen Mc Entree. TD, has announced the extension of the 5-year entry short-stay visa option to all countries that require a visa.
‘The availability of a 5 year entry short stay visa is a very good step for eligible applicants from all countries where a visa is required. This will enable people who regularly visit Ireland for business or family reasons to submit an application. Parents of people living in Ireland can also apply for a visa to visit Ireland several times over the next five years and stay for a short period of time.
When it is allowed, it will be able to travel for five years. This will make the trip to Ireland even more convenient at a time when travel around the world is resuming and our tourism industry, in particular, is reopening following the impact of the COVID 19 Pademic.
So far, Ireland has offered 1-year, 2-year and 3-year entry visas, and the 5-year entry visa is only available to Chinese passport holders. (Introduced in 2019) . Now this qualification has now been extended to all countries.
Generally, ordinary entry visas are issued only to an applicant with an Irish travel history. With the new changes announced by the Minister today, those who regularly travel to the UK, Schengen Zone, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand to renew can also apply for this option if they have observed the terms of that visa. You can apply even if you do not have a travel history.
Multi-entry visa may be granted to those who have no previous travel history to Ireland and to certain business travelers subject to certain conditions. A fixed entry visa allows the holder to travel to Ireland several times on the dates shown on the visa.
For someone with no previous travel history to Ireland, any existing entry visa may be approved:
- Frequent trips to Ireland on short visits for business meetings are required.
- While in Ireland for business, you may need to travel to another country to return to Ireland for subsequent meetings or subsequent trips, or
- Traveling to and from another country via Ireland.
Current visa fees
60: Single Entry - Short Stay 'C' Visa
100: Magazine Couple Entry - Short Stay 'C' Visa.
The standard single entry visa option is also available. As with all visa applications, a visa-entry visa is the responsibility of the relevant visa officer.
