Gorse (Gorse is a dark green bush that grows in Europe. It has small yellow flowers and sharp prickles.) Burns easily all season, remember
Although fires occur throughout the year, dry weather from March to June poses the greatest risk during periods of inactive and dry vegetation. As the humidity decreases and the wind speed increases, the risk increases. Most people notice a significant reduction in the intense burning of vegetation and the uncontrollable speed of relatively small fires. The risk of a fire is significantly increased by the presence of untrained, poorly prepared, uninformed or inexperienced people in controlling the fire.
It is an offense under Section 40 of the Wildlife Act, 1976 (amended by Section 46 of the Wildlife Act, 2000) to burn, from 1st March to 31st August in any year, any vegetation growing on any land not then cultivated.
