Holders of valid passports valid for less than 6 months are eligible to travel to India (Press Note)
In a notification issued by the Indian High Commission in London in March 2022, it was stated that holders of valid Indian passports wishing to travel to India can travel even if they have a passport valid for less than six months.
“Indian travelers with valid passports and travel documents valid for less than six months are eligible to travel to India. The airlines and immigration authorities are requesting that this be facilitated, "said a press release issued by the Indian High Commission in London.
Generally, the 6-month passport rule states that your passport must be valid for another six months before you can depart for international travel. However, this notification may be the result of backlog or delay in processing Indian passports.
